I was over the moon when my daughter told me she wanted a Bluey-themed birthday party for her 5th birthday. Bluey is such an adorable show, and I wanted to create something truly special for our family's favorite cartoon characters. In this article, I'll share with you all the Bluey birthday party ideas you need to host your own celebration, including free printables, decorations, invitations, party favors, crafts, food, shirts, and more. So let's dive in and get ready to have a wackadoo time!

To truly appreciate Bluey, you have to watch the show. It's filled with wholesome characters and heartwarming family-centered stories. If you haven't seen Bluey yet, stop whatever you're doing and go watch an episode. In the U.S., you can find Bluey on Disney Channel and Disney Plus, but it originated in Australia. For everyone else, sit back and enjoy as we celebrate the Heeler family.

Bluey Birthday Party Invitation

I started the party preparations by designing my own Bluey-themed invitations. I usually prefer physical printed invitations, so I created a 5x7 Bluey birthday party invitation. However, I also made a digital version since I would be sending it out electronically. Both options turned out super cute!

Unfortunately, the Bluey birthday party invitations are no longer available in my Etsy Shop.

Bluey Birthday Party Decorations

To set the festive mood, I decided to stick with the vibrant orange and blue colors of Bluey throughout the party. I used crepe paper streamers to create a simple backdrop for my tablescape. Although this party had a smaller guest list, I added some height variety with wooden risers from Target's Playground. They have a fantastic selection of serving platters and risers that perfectly complemented the theme.

DIY Bluey Plates

Rather than using Bluey plates and cups with cartoon characters, I decided to incorporate the color scheme into the tableware. To make the plates more fun, I added adorable ears to the dinner plates and homemade stickers to the cups. (Similar to the Baby Yoda plates I made before.)

I used my trusty Cricut machine to cut out the ears for the plates, but you can easily make them by hand since they're basically triangles.

Materials:

  • Dark blue dinner plates
  • Light blue dessert plates
  • Dark blue cardstock paper
  • Tan cardstock paper
  • Double-sided craft tape
  • Bluey ears template (Download the free template here)

Cut out the outer and inner parts of the ears, then attach them to the underside of the larger dinner plate using double-sided craft tape. Place a dessert plate on top for a finished look. Utensils weren't necessary since I served finger foods for the kids, but clear or orange utensils would have looked great too.

DIY Bluey Cups

For the cups, I created Bluey and Bingo stickers. Again, I used my Cricut to make the stickers, but you can also cut out the shapes by hand or use a large circle punch to create circular characters. (I must admit, my Cricut comes in handy for parties!)

Materials:

  • Orange paper cups
  • Cricut sticker paper
  • Bluey & Bingo stickers template (Download the free template here)

Upload the stickers to Cricut as a "Print and Cut" file. If you're not familiar with this feature, check out my previous post about Print and Cut. After printing and cutting the stickers, simply peel and stick them onto the cups.

Bluey Birthday Party Food

To keep things simple since the guestlist was small, I opted for popcorn chicken and grapes, which were the birthday girl's requests. To add some color, I included orange Sixlets and blue lollipops, and I also made Bluey and Bingo popcorn.

Oh, and those Scooby Snacks in the middle of the table in the main photo? They might not have been the cutest since they say "Scooby Snacks" on them, but the kids loved them anyway. For the Bluey and Bingo popcorn recipe, please visit this link.

Bluey and Bingo Cupcake Toppers

The birthday girl insisted on having cupcakes, so I ordered chocolate cupcakes with blue frosting from the grocery store and added orange sprinkles and tiny white bone sprinkles. (Those bone sprinkles are absolutely adorable!) I also created Bluey and Bingo cupcake toppers.

After making the cupcake toppers with my Cricut, I attached them to toothpicks using hot glue.

Bluey Birthday Party Games

One of the things we love about Bluey is their ability to turn anything into a fun game. So, themed party games were a must! We even recreated some of my daughter's favorite games from the show. During the party, we played:

  • Sticky gecko (from "Sticky Gecko")
  • Bum shuffle races (from "Baby Race")
  • Dancy party (from "Dance Mode")
  • Keepy Uppy (from "Keepy Uppy")
  • Bluey & Bingo's BINGO (because it's just too cute!)
  • Bluey iSpy
  • Coloring sheets

Sticky gecko was not only a party game but also a party favor. I gave each kid their own sticky gecko to take home and created a sticky gecko target using contact paper attached to our sliding glass door. This game was a hit and played repeatedly throughout the party. Just look at these perfect Sticky geckos I purchased!

For the bum shuffle races, the kids had a blast racing each other from one end of the room to the other, shuffling on their bums.

Dance party and Keepy Uppy are self-explanatory if you've seen the episodes.

The Bluey & Bingo's Bingo and iSpy game printables are available in my Etsy Shop. I printed them on white cardstock and on the back of the iSpy game and answer sheet, I included coloring pages from Bluey.tv. That way, the kids could enjoy the iSpy game and color at the same time.

As a bonus, I included the character names on the iSpy game, so you can impress your kids with your Bluey knowledge.

Bluey Birthday Party Favors

To indulge my daughter's love for dressing up, I created "for real-life" Bluey ears for each party guest. They were as simple to make as the Minnie Mouse ears I made in the past and the monkey ears for a school play. No sewing required, just hot glue!

Stay tuned for a DIY Bluey Ears tutorial coming soon.

Since my daughter also adores stickers and tattoos, I made a sticker sheet and temporary tattoos for each partygoer. All of the favors were created using my trusty Cricut machine and were surprisingly easy to make.

Bluey Birthday Party Shirts

Our five-year-old loves dressing up in themed outfits, so it was a no-brainer to get the whole family involved in the Bluey theme. I found the perfect dress months before her birthday, and she fell in love with it. (Although a white shirt had to be added last minute due to an unexpected cold front.) Unfortunately, the exact dress is from a small boutique and no longer available. However, I found a similar one that I adore.

As for the rest of the family, I designed our own Bluey-themed shirts. You can find them in my Etsy Shop:

  • Mum featuring Chili Heeler
  • Dad featuring Bandit Heeler
  • Bingo & Bluey

Please pardon the fact that my husband's shirt isn't visible in the photo. He didn't quite understand the assignment, but it says "Dad" with a picture of Bandit dancing.
