The Stone of Truth is a remarkable accessory for spellcasters in Octopath Traveler 2. When equipped, it enhances the intensity of spells in battles, mimicking the effects of Advanced Magic. However, there are a few things to consider: you'll need to sacrifice an accessory slot, and the Stone of Truth is still technically inferior to the buff provided by Alephan’s Wisdom. Nevertheless, if you're tired of setting up Scholars in every battle, this accessory is a fantastic find.

Unveiling the Secret of Beneath the Wall

To locate the dungeon containing the Stone of Truth, some preparation is required. Just south of Stormhail in the Southern Stormhail Snows, you'll come across a structure with a few NPCs loitering around. One of them warns you not to bring too many people to the area, providing a vague clue for solving this mystery. To proceed, select three of the following four characters: Agnea, Temenos, Partitio, and Ochette. Each character should recruit an NPC to follow behind them.

Although you don't necessarily need all four characters for this task, it's still advisable to bring them along. If each character has an NPC following, you'll unlock the "Octopath Traveler...?" Trophy/Achievement.

With your entourage in tow, return to the structure and search for the entrance to "Beneath the Wall" (as shown above). Proceed beyond the save point and attempt to cross the bridge. Due to the number of people with you, the bridge will collapse, granting you access to the optional dungeon called Infernal Castle. However, keep in mind that you don't have to explore the Infernal Castle with this party. Once the bridge collapses, your party can move freely up and down it like a ladder. This flexibility allows you to bring your strongest fighters to brave the depths of the dungeon.

Navigating the Infernal Castle

With a danger level of 55, the Infernal Castle is one of the most challenging dungeons in the game. By the time you're ready to explore this treacherous place, you should have developed powerful strategies to deal with common enemies. Personally, I equip my strongest fighters with the "Full Power" support skill, which allows them to clear encounters instantly using potent Latent Powers. "A Step Ahead" and "Boost Power" are also excellent support skills for random battles. Alternatively, you can choose to avoid combat altogether by using "Evasive Maneuvers" and "Evil Ward."

Traverse the dungeon as you would any other, uncovering hidden treasures such as the Blizzard Amulet, Lost Tribe’s Staff, and Serpent Slayer. However, obtaining the Stone of Truth requires a little more effort. To reach this item, you'll need to defeat the Dreadwolf.

Obtaining the High Priest's Book of Scripture by Conquering the Dreadwolf

Although defeating the Dreadwolf is not your primary objective, you will acquire the High Priest's Book of Scripture upon victory. Take this book to the Cleric's Guild for an additional license for the job. The boss battle may seem challenging without proper preparation, but if Partitio utilizes the Arcanist job, he can easily overpower the encounter. For more detailed information on how to defeat the Dreadwolf, refer to our dedicated guide.

Once you've defeated the boss, rush to the treasure chest ahead, and claim your reward—the Stone of Truth. Unless you wish to encounter the Dreadwolf again to capture it as Ochette, you can freely leave the dungeon and continue your journey. Interestingly, the NPCs above ground will act as if nothing has changed, oblivious to the fact that you have defied their only request. Well, I suppose if people can remain nonchalant after Osvald attempts to mug them, this isn't too out of the ordinary.

Remember, this is the only Stone of Truth discovered in the game, so make sure to keep it safe. Don't accidentally sell it!
